Beskrivning: Tanken är att försöka analysera det ekonomiska och sociala tänkandet i Sovjet under perioden 1985-1991, alltså perioden från Gorbatjov till Jeltsin. Jag noterar att diskussionen om denna period i stor utsträckning dominerats av "västliga" institutioner såsom IMF, IBRD och Harvard. Detta innebär inte att jag anser att tankegångarna därifrån var dåliga men att det också är intressant att se på hur sovjetiska ekonomer resonerade och att försöka systematisera deras tänkande. Efter mycket funderande och sidospår till andra ryska ämnen har jag har påbörjat arbetet mer sammanhängande för ca ett år sedan.

Beskrivning: The purpose of the first essay is to estimate how trade agreements between the EU and a large number of Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) have affected the volume and direction of trade. The policy implications of these changes for the enlarged EU will also be discussed. The second essay examines the link between productivity and export at the firm level in Russia. Finally the purpose of the third essay is to estimate the impact of foreign direct investments on Russian firms production decisions e.g. their decisions to entry or leave markets.
